I find Noam Chomsky very disturbing. He's not a fool. Chomsky is highly intelligent, very well educated, a regarded authority within his specific academic area and a professor at one of America's primier technical institutes. Chomsky is also (arguably) America's most influential living traitor. The man seems to hate anything that he was born into, e.g. his country, his culture, his religion, etc. How can someone who is so intellectually gifted, so well positioned academically and with complete access to all the necessary facts be so consistently wrong? He seems to practive this weird form of Orwellian double think, i.e. at a subconscious level he knows what's the truth and morally correct but then advocates the precise opposite. If someone as bright as Chomsky can always be so incredibly wrong, then how can I (or anyone?) be sure they are "right"?
