What's really sad is how many people bought it. The ability of some leftists to swallow almost anything whole has to be seen to be believed.

Back years ago when the history of the slave trade was being discussed at my college, somebody said that 100 million slaves had been tossed overboard on the slave routes across the Atlantic, and that sharks still followed this route. I never found the source of this number, which to the best of my knowledge exceeded the entire human population of the continent of Africa at that time, but I heard it repeated endlessly. Later, somebody seemed to get a clue, and the number was modified to 20 million, and more recently, it was down to 2 million. A few times somebody popped up with 200 million, but nobody paid much attention. The point is, these other numbers met with no more skepticism on the part of leftists than the first one had.
