Do you really believe the people here are warmongers in the word's true intended meaning?
Yes.
The unseemly haste with which Bush (and ten seconds later, his faithful followers) reject any move away from war is a dead giveaway. When the inspectors find a banned weapon, the irony-challenged Ari Fleischer immediately claims it as proof that inspections aren't working. When anybody proposes an alternative to war in the UN, Bush rejects it as "inadequate"--because to Bush, only war is "adequate".
That's what people mean by a "rush to war". Saying that this has been going on for months is a red herring. It's not the overall time involved, but the daily instantaneous reaction to head off anything that might deflect Bush from his drive to war that makes it truly a "rush to war".
I used "fishmonger" as an analogous definition earlier. How about "whoremonger"? As in, "Bush and his followers are pimping for war".
