This came up in a thread below, and I thought I'd drop it here too for the benefit of the studio audience.
John Conyers has been pushing socialized medicine forever. The wet dream of every two-bit totalitarian in our government.
Notice how it makes it illegal to get private insurance, and sets all prices, making the medical care industry government property, and all doctors essentially Federal employees. Non-union ones.
$1.809 Trillion Per Year. Almost doubles the size of the Federal Government at a stroke, while nationalizing a huge segment of our economy. I bet Conyers and his "progressive" buddies have to wear loose pants in public when they think about this.
The fact that someone in our House of Representatives can propose something like this without the other members throwing chairs at him frightens me a lot. This abomination went to the floor with 25 cosponsors. Thank God the Republicans own the House, but I would hope most Democrats would be against it as well. I remember that the House was Democratic when Hillarycare was shot down.
National Health Care still lurking out there...
