Sept 3, 1939 - Britain, France, Australia and New Zealand declare war on Germany.
May 10, 1940 - Germany invades France
June 22, 1940 - France surrenders
Dec 11, 1941 - Germany declares war on the United States.

Hmmm - is there a bit of a gap there, or is it just me?

Yeah, I know, there were a lot of other factors involved.
