My history lessons stopped at about 1950
Just long enough to cover the war and the fall of the Empire* but not getting into Korea, Vietnam etc.
Mind you, we started with the Picts, so that wasn't a bad span really :-)
* and laud how great the post-war nationalization in Britain was........
