Back when I was in school, our history classes always seem to end about the time we got to WWII. I've talked to a lot of kids today who say the same thing often happens in their classes. Imagine, a couple generations who've had little opportunity to study the history of the past 60 years. I can only hope that is a relatively limited problem, but I suspect it isn't.
I've devoted over 30 years to the study of 20th century military history, both from personal interest and as professional knowledge when I was in the military. I find the subject fascinating, and I love when I get to meet people who were there. A couple weeks ago, I met a man who flew dive bombers at Guadacanal and again in the Korean War. Men like him are literally a dying breed.
