Wish you could have met my father-in-law, Larry. He was "too old" to fly combat in WWII (he was 31 in 1939) but he trained literally thousands of allied pilots in all aspects of flying, he did a great deal of test pilot work in Britain on allied planes, and on german planes after the war ended. He flew practically every plane that was used in the european theater, on both sides.
