Nobody who knows anything about the Constitution thinks that a boycott of someone who expresses an unpopular opinion is a violation of "Freedom of Speech." Of course, these Hollywood types aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer to begin with.
What's funny is that many of the same people and groups wailing about the Hollywood lefties' "First Amendment Rights" being violated have in the past enthusiastically supported boycotts against advertisers on various conservative talk show hosts.
Included are the constant attempts to stage a boycott on sponsors of the Rush Limbaugh show, from the famous "orange juice" boycott to current ones; the massive pressure on advertisers on Dr. Laura's TV show, and current organized attempts to pull advertisers off Mike Savage's show. And those are just the ones I know about.
Apparently if someone has conservative opinions, there is nothing wrong with doing your damndest to cripple their ability to make a living. Sorry, Robbins. It works both ways.
The Left wants talk radio dead, dead, dead. I have tracked a number of efforts made legislatively (largely under the table) to reinstate FCC controls that would make it difficult for the medium to survive.
The rank hypocrisy shouldn't even surprise us any more.
And you know, this doesn't even count campus shutouts of conservative speakers, stealing and trashing conservative newspapers, and other fine examples of the Left's respect for "free speech."
Experience both domestic and foreign shows that the Left believes in "free speech" only as long as you agree with them.
