Is your library private or run on government funds? That's the difference MaryAnne and I think it should be clear from my other comments. If the Hall of fame is publicly funded then it's actions were incorrect, if not they were free to take the action they did.
It's simple freedom of expression applies to both sides of any issue as long as the actions taken are by private individuals or organizations. It is just plain stupid to call it an abbrogation of your free speech for another private entity to tell you they don't want to hear what you have to say. Feedom of speech allows you to speek out in public, but does not force others to listen to you nor does it garauntee access to any particular venue.
Easy media access is what irks me about the celebrity attitude. They are more free to express their opinions in large scale venues than most americans. I find spitting on collective rebuke and or whining about loosing any particular venue extremely arrogant and an abuse of privilege.
