Actually it is quite easy to see the librarians' bias, if any. Simply peruse the "book sale" items of most large libraries. If they are just boring, out of date books - there is probably little bias. However, if the books of a specific nature are consistently deep-sixed you can see a librarian in action.
For example one day I noticed that Limbaugh's "The way things ought to be" in the booksale section along with a kids book about Nixon, a book about the Contras (pre-Iran-Contra) which supported the US intervention in the region, and that older childrens book series about the USS Arizona and other stereotypical patriotic themes.
Clearly at least one of the librarians handiwork.
The amusing part was seeing another librarian hard at work as well:
"The Carter Family Photo Album" (who knew they made such a thing?), "The rising danger of the extreme right wing" and five or so "Doonesbury" cartoon books were also discarded.
Librarians hard at work editing their library for content.
;-)
It goes on to a greater or lesser degree everywhere.
