Over 60% of the public are satisfied with the war whether or not WMD are found. About 20% are walking around wiping imaginary egg off of their faces.
Unless you believe that this kind of thing would have been found by the UN inspectors, we can only assume that the sanctions would have been lifted and Saddam would have free to do as he pleased.
What he pleased to do I suspect would have been to tell the scientist to dig up the plans and equipment and get to work. There will be other findings of hidden plans and equipment but they will never satisfy those that opposed the war and/or just hate Bush.
The Bush haters should let their fertile imaginations work and perhaps consider the possibility that the Bush conclave is waiting until closer to the election to drop a WMD bomb into the dem camp.
That would actually turn me against Bush more that any lack of WMD but I would enjoy watching the rats scurry. When it comes to politics no one can be trusted.
