"Yes, I do. More properly I believe SARS is allele specific and more precisely that factors such as the Diego blood group allele Dia, which is totally absent in people of non-asiatic origin are contributing to a risk of infection. Non-europeans also have a very low frequency of the ABO blood-group allele Ib."
I assume you mean the DIa blood group antigen? The one that is found in 40% of South American Indian donors, The one that is found in 1-5% of East asians in general and only in about 7% of tibetans? (you know, sort of near where SARS originated?). Odd, isn't it, that no South american Native has died of sars, but 40% of them have the allele you point to as the 'race-specific-culprit'. While East asians only have it to 7%
Got ANY evidence that DIa blood group antigen has anything to do with SARS?
Or did you draw this out of that Blood Type Diet nonsense? (I bet you did, in fact, as I remember this shit being in there when I read and debunked it a few years back)
"Non-europeans also have a very low frequency of the ABO blood-group allele Ib."
Which is to say: It has nothing to do with the 'race' of individuals, is present to some degree in any racial 'group', can not be used to effectively define Racial groups and has nothing to do with genetic difference between 'races'. And with 40% of South American Natives sharing the DIa blood group antigen, it sort of makes it hard to claim that is 'Race Specific' to the asians.....
So your 'race-specific' claim, in this case too, is trash.
And you think that blood type markers have ANYTHING to do with a disease that strikes primarily pulminary cells and (rarely) endometrial cells?
And do you think inadequate immune respnse is a resonable avenue of inquiry into the pathology of a disease that kills in patients who express a hyper-active immune response, where TNF destroys cells so rapidly the alveoli look like little fatty scars when it [the immune response] is done?
I know what you call 'Science'. It ain't Science, loTech. Its navel gazing and UFO watching. Stare at an empty sky long enough and with enough belief, and you'll see space aliens or yetis or whatever it is your *really* believe in with all your heart. Staring at the sky with an open mind and asking good questions of the universe and LISTENING to the answers is much harder.
