Leonid Brezhev - (claimed to be KGB Chairman) - He Signed the ABM Treaty
Yury Andropov - was a general who invaded Afganistan
Yevgeny Primakov - Head of the Chamber of Commerce (this is the guy who was suposed to help destroy all the chems)

The only people calling him a KGB general are wingnut and conspiracy theorists.

The only thing I found on the reporter (suposid former general who defected) were just references to him through unclassified FBIS Report. In other words foreign newspapper articles.
