A complete write up of the 20th century bad guys can't be complete without Roosevelt!

The man who almost singlehandedly created the two worker family (husband & wife), threw the largest monkeywrench into our capitalist system in the form of the unconstitutional minimum wage and has forever created and established a de facto permanent lower class deserves a spot on that list.

Like all bad guys they do the wrong things for "noble" reasons - but like all bad guys they are so clueless as to the repercussions.

One can look at the twentieth century in two parts - prior to FDR and after. The automobile, airplane, telephones, television, radio and alternating current system powering our cities was invented & created prior to FDR. After FDR we have transistors, fiber optics, lasers, vcrs, CDs, DVDs, Do you notice a distinct but subtle difference in the types of accomplishments created in the latter twentieth century?

If you noted that none were earthshaking advances as the first part - you're right on the money. Each was an improvement on an existing artifact. CDS & DVDs were fancy records. The internet was just a fancy multipurpose phone line. Transistors were fancy vacuum tubes.

Why?

Why did the huge changes run out of steam? Quite simple: The minimum wage. Stifle businesses ability to hire cheap labor and you are not going to see the Pyramids built or the Panama Canal. You're not going to invent a new transportation device, see the reshaping of cities every two decades into new and state of the art places to live and work - and you are going to see the end of the ma & pa stores, small businesses and the employment of millions. You will also see the Wal-martization and monopolies gain strength with each passing year. Only the large can afford to pay minimum waqes to huge numbers of employees. Roosevelt thought he was helping labor unions - but he was killing them. He gave the edge to big business permanently. Now, the union employees have no alternative and the wimpy unions will agree to anything because they know there are no small companies ready to absorb the disgruntled employees.

Stifling such human enterprises is what has stifled America and created inflation and a way of life where children are raised by sitters, nannies and daycare centers while both parents do 50+ hour weeks to make ends meet. The Constitution never guaranteed a minimum wage. The minimum wage is a preposterous affront to the Constitution and to capitalism by shackling employers and folks who want to enter into business.

Whenever, I hear a leftist whining about capitalism, big business or the state of the economy - I just point to FDR, their socialist hero who gave them all the shaft.

While one man can kill thousands or even millions in his lifetime - FDR has corrupted the whole US way of life and equal opportunity promised all Americans. His effects have harmed billions and will continue to. Hundreds of years from now when historians of the future try to pinpoint the screw up that stifled the breakneck progress made in America in the first part of the 20th century - the finger will point to Roosevelt and no selfish sentimentalists which linger today will be there to justify his tampering with "Well he game my pa a job and dignity" or "We were able to buy a TV after two years with the new minimum wage!".

Forcing equality is not what the framers intended. Equal opportunity...that's all they in their infinite wisdom had orchestrated. Thank whatever deities you cling to that FDR hadn't arrived earlier on the scene - or we'd still be living with lanterns and horse buggys.
