Italian-Americans in camps
I've read that a some Italian-Americans and German-Americans were also imprisoned during WWII but it was only a tiny percentage, especially when compared to the Japanese.
My relatives settled in Pittsburg, CA in 1848 (then known as New York Landing) many were fisherman and some were subject to the camps during WWII. Later my immediate family held positions as the first police chief and first fire chief of Pittsburg along with first retired fire chief. Although our family was part of the investigation of Italian persecution (my aunt was on Larry King discussing the matter for one) all they wanted was recognition not compensation.
The last paragrapgh from here
"And as Italians are an integral part of the white middle class that the federal government and the multinational corporations seem so intent on eliminating, their shameful treatment during World War II will undoubtedly remain unacknowledged and suppressed by the Washington liberals who hold themselves out as morally superior to everyone else."
