Saddam has both a proven history of supporting terrorism, especially in Israel, and a proven history of using chemical weapons. We're not going to cower like Europeans and hope not to be hit again. We're going after not only those who did attack us but those who might.

Yes, there are two worlds. There's the childish Western European world that refuses to provide for its own security (but we get 5 weeks vacation a year!) because they know the US will do the dirty work and heavy lifting for them. Then there's the US, which faces its responsibilities like an adult.

Actually, there's at least a third world out there. There's a small minority of the Islamic community that wants nothing more than to tear down all vestages of the non-Islamic world. The US, UK, Australia, and a few of our real allies know this and are working to prevent it from happening. The rest of Europe is denying that reality. Let's hope they don't have to suffer their own 9-11 to realize how foolish they're behaving.

As for empires and colonies, we're not like Belgium, England, France, or the rest. We win wars and then help the country rebuild, leaving them to their own governments. When they ask us to leave, we do. That's a funny way to run an empire.
