High School Physics class

Ah, your post brings back memorys from long ago. I took physics way back in the dark ages (1973-74 school year) when electronic calculators (the 4 function kind like you can get in a box of Cracker Jacks today) broke the $100 barrier. Still have my slide rule and still know how to use it.

The scheduled teacher had quit shortly before the school year began, so the only other faculty member who'd ever taught physics was drafted back into the classroom. He was the school's vice principal who was scheduled to retire at the end of the year. The most memorable things about the class were how his hair appeared blue under the lights (Grecian Blue user, no doubt) and the pranks we pulled on him. I remember hiding this wierd device in a desk drawer and plugging it in. It was an electric motor that spun a metal disk with holes in it. As it spun, it make strange noises. We never did learn what the machine was supposed to demonstrate. He couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from, so he went to get a custodian. We unplugged it, so of course the custodian couldn't find anything. This happened several times before he found out the cause (if never the culprit).

It sounds like you're in for a wasted year in physics class. Don't be discouraged. You'll survive this class and go on with your life just like all of us did back in the stone ages. Some of us went on to do some pretty interesting things, like control satellites. Something tells me you'll do well.

Oh, one other thing. Don't think of college as the real world. It isn't. For all to many, college is just 4 more years of prolonged adolescence, only without parental supervision. A lot of kids manage to screw themselves up royally in the meantime.

It all depends upon you and your attitude. You'll get out of high school (and college) what you put into it. The real world begins when you go to work and support yourself, completely independent of your parents. Good luck.
