I made a cartoon of my physics teacher - a balding man with curly black tufts on the sides of his head. On his shirt I emblazoned "Fizics is Fun" which was his mantra. The cartoon surreptitiously made the rounds of the class and somehow he got hold of a copy. He said he liked it - but I really don't think he liked me too much after that - although with the greatest of compassion I did give him a bit more hair than he was entitled to.
I have a niece in the first grade who told me that her teacher asked the students to show the students something of theirs that is private. She dutifully raised her hand and asked, "If it's private why should we be showing it?"* The teacher said you can just show part of it.
At this point I'm not only leery but creeped out. Im thinking...abuse of teaching position - perhaps abuse altogether. But I know her teacher and she is a very nice person - so I scrub my worst fears and listen to what happened next. She deployed the tag and "inspected by number" from inside her "Barbie" backpack and showed it to the class. Needless to say I was very proud of her ingenuity and thought of Joan of Arc as she stymied her inquisitors with artful replies.
Moral: Teachers today seem to like to get inside info out of their students.
It's nice to "see" you here at the good ol' HZ, Katie!
Best wishes,

*I am hoping she said personal as in personal possession instead of private and that she miscommunicated.
