1. Bullying is OK. (If you tell people what bothers you and they use it as a weapon in personal attacks against you, as many of the remarks against Lindy have been, that's bullying.)
No, it's not OK. I have never supported bullying remarks. However Lindy also made the same mistake of sinking to that level, commenting about rogaine, Phil and Ed's hair, belly size and what have you. Once she did that, she lost the high ground and entered the ring.
2. It's much better to make people guess what bothers you than to tell them outright. That way, no one will understand anything properly and it's always possible to shift the blame.
No, it's much better not to tell people what bothers you because many people collect such stuff to use against you at a future time. If it was just me you'd never have to worry about it - but the HZ is not just me. It's not even just the folks who post here. I don't see where shifting blame enters into it. It's more analogous to not telling your sparring opponent about your bum left knee.
3. Honesty and tactlessness are the same.
No.
Honesty is always the best policy but 100% honesty is best reserved for private conversations. Tactlessness will never be confused with honesty, its honesty devoid of compassion and something else altogether.
4. Manners count less in this envoronment because no one is close enough to punch you in the face.
Sadly, this is true. Lot's of exchanges here I can't imagine occuring in a group meeting without fisticuffs erupting. The bellicose tone and content of the Space board (the space board!) is already practically composed of 'verbal assault and fisticuffs' all the time. And this is one of the reasons I hastily scan those boards but loiter here.
5. Manners will be less and less important as time goes on. Virtual people are not real people and have no feelings.
No. But for some this is true. I tend to think if one has manners in public they will also be found here - more or less.
6. Saying something pseudoscientific is better than saying nothing at all.
That prefix 'pseudo' gets thrown about too much. Since analysis became popular in the forties to treat everything from head aches to serious mental disorders, everybody has become an analyst to some degree or another. It's merely some folks opinion is more weighted than others.
Humans have complexes, neuroses and all manner of ills that are now not treated by analysis - but are not discussed and simply glazed over by drugs from a pharmaceutical company.
Such is life in the 21st century.
