When I said "And the idea that dissent (or even bad but true news) must be suppressed, is disgusting and un-American. It is not patriotic."
I meant that it was not an act of patriotism to suppress such news/dissent. Not that you were unpatriotic. I was very unclear.
About the press: it is free and it is show business. It will cover what is sensational every stinkin' time. It will not tend to cover good deeds very closely (When was the last time you heard a story about a charitible endowment?)
If this, in your partisan eyes looks equivalent to "Axis Annie" then so be it [BTW: you completely ignore the entertainment value that these propaganda shows had, and you completely ignore the effect they had on our troops -- approximately no effect at all].
If you can only see when Dems demonize Reps and not the other way around, then that's yet another personal problem.
