None, What Part About Ultimate Goal and Wasting Effort Is It That You Don't Get?

You do not make Mars more likely by waisting money and further erroding the public's confidence in NASA. What infrastructure from intermediate steps exactly do you think of as value in getting to Mars? A lunar base is of no use, it simply results in a net increase in fuel needed to reach Mars. A heavy lift is of no use if it has to be redesigned to get to Mars but one designed for Mars can reach the other targets. A space suit designed for 0 g or 0.16 g may not work in 0.38 g but the reverse is probably not true.

I think these points are clear Larry. Handwaiving around the terms fixation and infrastructure addresses none of them. If you really have a technical issue clearly state it instead of spouting platitudes and generalities.

Mark
