Space/Science » in reply to re: Boeing IS an entrepreneurial venture

Huh? Boeing has lobbied AGAINST tax incentives, and COMPETITIVE prizes. It hired Ms. Druyun (a corrupt Air Force contracting official) before firing her last week, too.

Boeing's still an entrepreneurial venture? Sure, it began in a garage decades ago but it's HARDLY an entrepreneurial company where space is concerned. Boeing has lobbied AGAINST tax incentives, and detests the concept of COMPETITIVE prizes. The Russians built a space station for 25 times less than Boeing, for example, and annual operating costs were 3% of those of Boeing's ISS.
Meanwhile, as for:

>>>"And Boeing is a perfect example of why government needs to remain in control of the space program."<<<

Boeing's Ms. Druyun (fired recently) got into trouble for doling out favors to wealthy contractors (which offered her jobs) while she still worked for the government (in this case the Air Force). Doesn't Boeing prove that the government needs to get out of the space business, and merely incentivize rather than anoint contractors?
