Given how NASA has poisoned the waters for commercial space ventures:

I can understand why Burt Rutan has accepted government money at times, while nevertheless preparing for the potential commercial market that his products can satisfy. Despite any contracting in Rutan's past, though, he would also compete for such dollars if mere competitive prizes were offered by the government. That shows efficiency and a belief in one's mission(s). Perhaps the best test of whether a space company is truly entrepreneurial: would they support NASA's offering competitive prizes. Boeing & Lockheed would not. Presumably you know why...

- Huh? Boeing has lobbied AGAINST tax incentives, and COMPETITIVE prizes. It hired Ms. Druyun (a corrupt Air Force contracting official) before firing her last week, too.
