Remember Sagan's quote?
It applies to this case as well!
The extraordinary claims being: Saddam is a threat to the world because he possesses Weapons of Mass Destruction. Saddam's regime is connected to the Al Qaeda terrorist network.
These claims are extraordinary as they involve the lives of millions of Iraqis and thousands of US (and others) soldiers.
These claims are extraordinary because they determine the states of international trust and law.
The evidence must be extraordinary (to convince the world) and obvious and in spite of being rid of Saddam's threat, there is none of that extraordinary evidence to be found.
The US got itself into a great mess and the outcome might very well be handing over Iraq to the Ayatollahs.
