re: Chaos, Chance, Etc.

There are really three choices one has when dealing with understanding the universe:

1. Everything is the construct and control of some god(s).
2. Everything is just random, chaos and happenstance.
3. Everything is scientific and is the result of cause and effect.

For thousands of years number one was the only thing available to the masses of humanity. The "enlightened" ones of these eras were leaning towards two when they couldn't justify how such a god could come into existence or make such apparently poor creations (man).

Number two just doesn't make sense when you really think about it. Here we are looking for the scientific reasons for the way mars is and how to cure disease and in the next minute we can say that cause and effect and chaos exist side by side!

Either the universe is scientific - or it is not. There is none of this half/half bit. That's the illusion! As long as that illusion is maintained suffering will increase not diminish.

You see, that murderer, if killed, will be back. And what's worse - we wont know where he is. Right now, there is probably another little Timothy McVeigh out there and in short order the Hussein sons will be back as well. Life imprisonment is much better for many reasons. First you really know where these folks are and can keep an eye on them. Second, the execution process only makes them that much more dangerous when they return. Humor me and pretend reincarnation has been proven - doesn't it stand to reason that the executed folks just become that much more hateful, bitter, dangerous and deranged when they come back?

Now let's look at it from the another view, doesn't it stand to reason that the psycho-killers in the world could have been formed by being killed by others?

Justice is all swell and fine. Order must be maintained in the society and the ones who are dangerous to others need to be identified and isolated. Like Mary Anne or the left would point out - they also need to be helped and re-educated. (in my view they need to have serious imbalances, balanced)

It's easy to think that one has gotten rid of these folks with the death penalty and that the problem is gone. Basically that is just sweeping the dirt under the rug and it will not diminish the problem one iota.

Again, science and chaos just don't mix. Chaos is simply the result of not understanding what's going on. We can look at mars surface and say, "Hey Nick, stop looking for a cause to these rock formations - it's just the result of chaos!" Sure, it may look like chaos, but it's a surface illusion. The scientific eye realizes everything is cause and effect. Everything is energy. Energy just doesn't do things randomly, but follows very specific principles which science has identified.

Yes, it really hurts to think that there are no victims. Not only does it hurt, but it threatens our societal structure and sense of righteousness. However, crime is crime and laws are laws. Righteousness must really be determined by law - not by our sense of the innocence of a victim. In the future, even after these things have long since been validated - no one will become callous towards suffering. In fact, quite the opposite is true. When one can identify certain frequencies and thought patterns that are imbalanced - one can better treat these folks before they go psycho, yet again, or before they become "victims" of further violence.

In fact, what really is repugnant to the minds of the future is the sort of thing that occurs now - namely that young children victims of crime are cared far more about than ugly, old people and generate for more sympathy and outpouring of grief and emotion.

The ugly, old and mean man that gets killed demands just as much compassion as the young child. Just as does the criminal or the psycho-killer. That is true justice and true "godlike" compassion. Anything less just shows us how unjust we still really are...and how shallow. That our remorse is reserved for just the young and attractive makes us less than what we really must become.

I have equal amounts of compassion for young, old, pretty, ugly, criminal and innocent.

Cause and effect doe not diminish culpability of a crime or require a diminishing of compassion for the victim.
