As a few of the articles pointed out, turning in Saddam was not popular with the Iraqis.

The Kurds did not want to be known as the folks who did that, but did want credit with the Americans.

So, they held him, drugged him, threw him down that hole, and led Americans to it.

For a carefully staged capture, similar to the hostage rescue.

It fit both sides to say the Americans did it.

And so help me, it appears as if GWB & Co. would lie if the truth were easier.
