The media pre-war distortions you mention supported the Bush admin. case for war. In fact, our media played a critical role in drumming up support for pre-emption by emphasizing the lurid scare stories peddled by Pres. Bush, VP Cheney, Sec'y/Def. Rumsfeld, Sos Powell and other Bush admin. officials, and by downplaying or burying dissenting arguments by the adminstration's own experts.

Far from supporting your argument, the pre-war media distortion issue casts doubt on the mainstream media's credibility precisely because they gave Pres. Bush a pass on the reliability of information he presented to support his case for war. Dissenting views - those which turned out to be accurate - were buried.

It's just that simple.
