The big deal I see is three-fold.
* Europe is where many white Americans find their immediate roots
Sure, they left in search of that famous "American Dream", but their homeland ties remain with them. They are now indoctrinated U.S. citizens, but don't mind emailing "home" for some good ol', down-to-earth, mother-tongue advise, such as: recipes for blintz, knockwurst, or that perfect koogle grandma used to make; the best way to replace the legs on the rocking dining room table; and how they should vote in the coming elections for the highest office in the land.
Or are we supposed to be worried about the illegal-alien vote...?
* Europe is where many (rich) white Americans like to go for vacation
The next reality-based TV show should be U.S. hikers backpacking across Europe, and all the trouble they face as real-life, innocent American tourists. Might be a little too frightening for the network, but what about Showtime?
Or should we be worried about that tiny percentage of American voters...?
* Europe is where many anti-U.S. Military demonstrations occur (funny how that works out). Others can be found in SE Asia, Japan, and the Philippines.
Beleive it or not, there really are intelligent people in Europe (and elsewhere), and they're smart enough to realize the value of a U.S. Military presence. It brings a certain level of unrest to communities, particularly when demonstrators are imported from neighboring nations, but it also brings a level of cheap entertainment for EUTV -- and sets the stage for some light conversation later between deployed G.I. and his local bartender.
How many U.S. Military votes are we talking about -- many of whom vote Rep for job security...?
So -- what is the "big deal" about how Europe would vote -- if it could?
