Here is what Human Rights Center Director Eric Stover says about Saddam’s Iraq, More than 300,000 people disappeared; there was genocide and crimes against humanity
In another article.
Saddam ordered his cousin, Ali Hassan Majeed, to carry out a retribution campaign against the Kurds. Starting in 1987, the retribution included forced relocations, the destruction of villages and the deaths of about 182,000.
First Bush knew of what Saddam was doing to the Kurds in 1988. If he did, he would have not stood for it. He had no love for Saddam. See the history on the first Gulf War if you don’t believe me there. Did you forget that Saddam even had an assassin go after President Bush?
I do think that the first President Bush made a mistake leaving Saddam in power, thus allowing for more innocent Iraqis being killed by Saddam. I know he was trying to comply with the UN, but he should have told the UN to stuff it.
Anyway, that is history. How can you fault our President Bush for what happened back then? He is doing something his father should have done almost 15 years ago.
