ML's criticism of the RC in those days were certainly justified, but the man was also a notorious antisemite and he betrayed his peasant followers in order to curry favor with his aristocratic allies
(who had their own agendas, of course).
As for the Irish question, I've never heard a better justification for "sell weapons to both sides and nuke the survivors".
