It did not contain "traces of Sarin". It released traces of Sarin when perforated by an explosive charge. That is NOT the intended mode of use, which is to be fired out of a cannon. Had that been done, or had the terrorists simply drained the chemicals from the shell and mixed them, the result would have been the release of kilograms of Sarin, enough to kill thousands in a crowded space.
There was about as much stuff in that ONE shell as was used in the Tokyo subway gas attacks. And that was the only shell that has surfaced to date. Where there is ONE, there are certainly MORE. The next time we may not be so lucky.
I will say one thing for Saddam. He was good at hiding stuff, including himself. But not quite good enough.
