Everyone has a different learning curve. Polarized political folks invest some of themselves with a candidate or party. When their party loses they personalize it and develop hatred for that which they perceive to have harmed them.
It's not that extraordinary to witness these types of behavior. A whole industry flourishes catering to those who feel this need to lash out. Accordingly everything is viewed in this bizarre construct and these folks accentuate the negative and diminish the positive.
Naturally, such behavior tends to make folks even more miserable and so they point the finger even stronger at all those who disagree with them.
Realize his behavior for what it is and have compassion for his plight. Don's not evil - he's like a hurt animal lashing out at all the hands that are trying to help him.
;-)
Do you think that last line was that sufficiently patronizing? I do.
