...I've never complained about how the U.S. Supreme Court resolved the Florida election fiasco. Frankly, I was glad they brough an end to it. And I got over Al Gore's loss within days. If I am bothered by anything from the 2000 election, it is Ralph Nader. His entry into the race gave George Bush the edge he needed to win the electoral college vote. But that's politics.
Frankly, I think the more bald political motivations lie with the Republicans who are desperate to rescue what is becoming a failed Presidency. They will say and do anything to keep their man in the White House - even to the point of pouring money into Ralph Nader's campaign to engineer a repeat of 2000.
As for Iraq, my views aren't driven by partisan politics. They are driven by a firm and now confirmed belief that the rush to war in Iraq was a terrific mistake. Keep in mind I supported the war in Afghanistan and still do. But going to war in Iraq was a reckless choice driven by bad information and incompetent judgeement. If that fact threatens George Bush's relection effort, so be it.
