SS troopers had families. The men running Buchenwald had families. The Taliban had families. The Inquisitors had families. Pol Pot The guys flying airplanes into the WTC filled with weeping Americans had families. Every bloody monster that ever walked the planet had a mother. What's your goddam point?
Do you really think on that shallow a level?
These people are shooting at us. They're blowing up churches, buses, offices, and Iraqis by the dozens and even hundreds. Hello?
It doesn't matter what their background is. I don't care if they had a bad childhood, or if they're only there because they're getting paid, or because Allah told them to. There are a few thousand of them. Guess what: there are also 25 million Iraqis who somehow don't feel the urge to kill Americans and fellow Iraqis. Iraqis who are going to work, raising families, buying cars, and hoping they aren't killed by the few bastards still running around loose. Obviously the roots of the violence isn't "genetic" or even "cultural."
I am sick to death of the "moral relativism," a poison infecting our culture in many areas, that places the death of someone who would saw off another man's head, and that of his victim, on the same level.
Motives count. Volition counts. Making choices counts.
