You Are Correct In This Case
This was not the basis of your earlier comments however, and my point was that Democracy doesn't have to obey your world view or anyone else's about what is right. It's the view of the majority that counts and most do favor environmental protection in general last poll I recall.
A syou point out elsewhere our democracy is constrained by the constitution which has ammendments designed to protect individuals and minorities from an unjust tyranny of the majority. What qualifies as unjust however does have to be agreed to by a majority at some point in time.
