Yeah, America was dying to take over France.

The United States has a long history of liberating nations, and then giving them their own freedom. How often does that happen in history? Is Japan an American protectorate? Germany? Any of the other nations freed from the Nazi yoke, or that were freed when the Iron Curtain fell?

Why this sticks in some people's craws is more than I can figure out.
