To suggest that the French resistance was ineffective is something of an insult to them. And to further suggest that there are parallels, strong or otherwise, between present-day America and Nazi Germany is so completely, remarkably absurd that it reflects badly on your judgement, I'm afraid.
Imagine Hitler with a massive stockpile of nuclear weapons, and the glee with which he would have used them. America has had nuclear weapons for over half a century, and has used them precisely twice, and then only in an effort to end a war that had already taken over 50 million lives. America is nothing short of a study in patience, an example to the world of how power doesn't always have to corrupt--of how the human animal can resist the basest urges to destroy and subjugate.
If at the end of the day the best you can do is condemn America for ending the pitiless reign of a brutal, murderous dictator, and for staying the course to make sure a band of bloodthirsty thugs doesn't gain control over a people for whom they've clearly shown absolute contempt, then your best--to put it kindly--isn't very impressive. Your "patriotic Iraqis" (who often aren't even Iraqi) are trying to save Iraq from what, exactly? From participatory democracy, from prosperity and economic stability? From rejoining the world as a proud and respected people instead of a quivering mass of humanity under Sadaam's boot? And look at their patriotic tactics, blowing scores of their supposed fellow citizens apart with each strike, kidnapping and murdering truck drivers. Your patriots are power-hungry murderers, Bowser, who fear freedom and democracy and equality of the sexes, and who don't want their fellow Arabs and Persians to have a voice in determining the course of their own lives. It has nothing to do with the supremacy of Allah and everything to do with the mundane thirst for power and control. Democracy--one person, one vote--is their enemy. And the economic ideas that lead to jobs and money and independance for the "average" man and woman scare the crap out of them, so much so that they won't hesitate to cut the head off a living human being with a carpet knife if they think it'll scare us into leaving the Iraqi people at their stone-cold mercy. These are your patriots, Bowser, these are your "freedom-fighters," these are your heros. You have choosen poorly.
