He could have had OBL handed to him on a silver platter, but he blew that offer- this after the OBL’s first WTC attack that killed some Americans. He chooses diplomacy over action. When he finally choose action, he shot a missile at a tent.

Who was president during the first WTC attack? Who was President when Al Qaeda attack the Cole, or the US Embassy in Africa? Who was president in the mid 1990’s when Al Qaeda was in America planning the 2nd WTC attacks? It was not president Bush.

Please advise as to what had risen to the level of concern, what she was tracking, what was more important than the cumulative information which she was ignoring. It's also well-known that Ashcroft submitted a budget for less money for counter-terrorism than had Clinton. Did that reflect the Bush Administration's priorities?”

Bush had a terrorist plan before 9/11. He was only in office for about 8 months when 9/11 happened. You expect him to do in 9 months what Clinton had 8 years to do?

Bowser Land “Also seems to me that the political will to, say, attack Afghanistan wasn't there until WTC. Maybe you could explain how the country could have been mobilized to support a preemptive attack without a dramatic incident such as 9-11.”

They were harboring Al Qaeda, who had attacked and killed Americans on at least 3 occasions before 9/11.

Bowser Land “And, explain how attacking Iraq and minimizing efforts against OBL have helped in the "war on terrorism", given Iraq had nothing to do with terrorist attacks on the US.”

OBL and Iraq were in contact- to the extent we do not know. Iraq was(and is) harboring terrorist. There were terrorist training camps in northern Iraq. Iraq was in violation of the UN resolution. Iraq violated the no fly zone on numerous occasions. Iraq shot at American planes on numerous occasions while Clinton was president.

One thing for certain, Saddam will never kill Americans with WMD like he did with the Kurds.
