The story did come out and it got a lot of press when it did. A lot of crticism was aired as a result and well deserved IMO. The story came out when concrete evidence was found. The red cross complained about suspicions of abuse. They had no evidence other than verbal accounts. Given the lies told regularly by Saddam's regime it is hardly suspicious that the press was skeptical of such claims. They haven't descended to AL-Jazeera's level of printing every anti-american rumor without any evidence. Sorry but I don't find responsible jornalism evidence of a coverup. That mess is one reason I'd replace Bush with anyone I believed roughly equal in determination on the security front.
What I do see is a steady stream of problems in Iraq and almost no reports on progress. That is not fair and balanced reporting. I do see lot's of soldiers complaining about the lack of press coverage on positive accomplishments in their letters home.
Regards,
Mark
