'The blogosphere is like SETI@Home for politics'

Larry J — 9/9/2004 9:01:36 PM (archived)

I saw that comment on another blog and had to laugh out loud. This whole story came from a single comment on a single blog where someone noticed that the fonts just didn't look like something from a 1973 typewriter. We now have several typography experts commenting on it and they're saying it is probably fake. Simply amazing. It looks like CBS has some 'splaining to do.

I remember a few years ago on the old MSNBC boards, where it was common to see people say, "Together, we CAN know it all."

The blogsphere is the realization of that dream. Wonderous times. I can barely imagine what my grandchildren will live to see.

re: IBM's were not rare in 1970s and the type is to blurred to positively identify it. But if forged seems pretty stupid not to have used common fonts easly picked up on web. (n/t) - Chris Vancil - 9/9/2004 11:08:10 PM

Proportional typing machines were, and the kerning is something IBMs never did. - ebnelson - 9/9/2004 11:33:29 PM
