Humans are pack animals

Jung added the herd instinct to human behavior. When added to the drive to procreate and the survival instinct, we have the three major human instincts at work on the zone.

Once a member has been adopted by a pack they will defend the pack and attack the others. Your howling here has riled up the faithful in the liberal "wolf pack" and they howl along with you. Bowser, Davin, Alcaray, Fox etcetera all can join in the aggressive anti-conservative cry. Then the conservative wolf pack hears the war-cry and sends its own to attack and interrupt the threat.

All without realizing these instincts of course. The microcosm here can be extrapolated out into the real world where Democrats and Republicans engage in the same thing. When one sees these things, such as the use of the candidates daughters at the conventions, one can see which instinct they are appealing to.

Sex, Survival. Herd.

Of course, after we go beyond these instincts we can break motivation further into various other mechanisms. Escape mechanisms, superiority/inferiority complexes and a plethora of other factors which trigger posts and the boards conflicts.

No one here really wants to hurt anyone else, they are merely slaves to these various impulses and drives.

Both Bush and Kerry portray their opponents as the threat to personal survival. Both make major appeals to the herd instinct. Both address the procreation instinct via the gay marriage issue. Bush protects heterosexual 'marriage' and Kerry is cast into the role of the quasi-defender of sexual 'diversity.' Reading Andrew Sullivan, one has a perfect example of this instinct 'hook' which can bring members into one pack or another.

So the herds separate into their various packs based upon their beliefs and sexual mores and then attack eachother. An attack primarily driven by the survival instinct.

Watch for it. Once you realize how both parties play their supporters you will be free to return to logic & reason, realizing that politics is merely a facet of life which cannot be viewed as the panacea for personal troubles or credited with abetting personal success.

That said, anyone who votes for Kerry is obviously an idiot.
