One fact

"Between april 5th and september 19th over 3400 iraqis were killed and over 13,000 injured due to the conflict created by our invasion... "

But this isn't saying much. It's similar to saying that since the invasion more Iraqi own cars, and therefore there is increased in car accidents which can be blamed on this invasion.
It's like blaming 911 on the fact that if we didn't have a World Trade Center, the terrorist wouldn't have been able to fly two airliners into it.

Or it's like saying that since we have around 40,000 fatalities due to car accidents in the US each year, and therefore it's not significant 3,000 were killed in 911. Or that since about 30,000 Americans commit suicide each year- so, 3000 deaths is not important.

Additionally, it implies that the US govt is responsible for these deaths. It's like blaming police officers for being on the scene when someone commits suicide. [oh, sure the police might have handled the situation better- they might have responded quicker and therefore arrived to the scene earlier and there is always things you can find that was wrong, but the people actually responsible are those committing suicide.]

The reality is that our miltary has done a outstanding job. And all the efforts by the terrorist has really been rather ineffective and "counterproductive" to their goals. In other words the Coalition is winning, and the terrorists are losing.
Also whereas our miltary has performed practically flawlessly- say a 9.5 in comparison to it's past performance [because there is no other miltary on this planet which is even in this league- actually the other coalition members are closest- the Aussie and UK in some aspects might match or exceed the US miltary- but I'm referring to the entire miltary operation].

The facts are that Iraq and Afghanistan have been saved from a horrible fate. And the US and the world is safer as a result of President Bush deciding to take the neccessary action to bring this about.
No country can ensure that Iraq and/or Afghanistan will have a vibrant democracy with a bright future, but we made it's possible for the people of these countries to bring this about.

Probably, the simpliest measure of success of a country is, are people fleeing it, or they returning to it? Afghanistan is stable enough that people are returning [3 million]. Iraq didn't have significant amounts of people fleeing the country- has that ever happenned in the history of this world? People are returning to Iraq [from a Saddam's forced exile], business is roaring, unemployment is low, the press is free- Iraqis are more optimistic about their future, than American are [and Americans are an optimistic people].
The question for historians will be how this transformation possible, and lost in time will be the actions of these terrorists in Iraq- they will be a footnote. And the low death from this war will be what will a significant factor of this action of overthrowing Saddam's regime and putting Iraq on a path to becoming a great nation in the middle east.
