In forming your opinions on the issue of health care for Americans, keep in mind that over 80% of all our hospitals are presently in the "Not-For-Profit" category.
Hardly a bastion of free-enterprise.
Presently US health care is the private playground of "good ole boy's" club we call the medical profession.
Doctor's have managed to keep their competition down by inhibiting the supply side and maintaining an artificial scarcity of doctors. They have blocked the dissemination of information that could be damaging to incompetent doctors by encouraging legislation to restrict patient information such as HIPPA, and 42CFS.
Now the good doctors are trying to blame the high cost of their screw ups on the "greedy lawyers" that sue on contingency funds. Our medicos seem to think that access to the courts should be removed from the poor.
In short, there is no "free enterprise" in the medical profession, in our hospitals, patient care, or our legal or illegal drug business. There is an operating cartel system composed of the insurance companies, hospitals, and the in-club of the AMA.

- "Will the sky fall if Kerry wins?" No it won't. You are correct. If he is elected, Kerry's policies will differ little from those of Bush. (n/t)
