Weather control could be used as a weapon, but it could only be done by a country capable of launching payloads in space. This limits the major player involved. The tools, as I see it, would be large mirrors, lenses and shades.
Mirrors and lenses could fry a countries crops, cause droughts, build dangerous storms (Focus a lenses on a nearby water source). A solar shade could put a country in darkness, killing crops and causing chaos.
These tools could also be used to save the Earth from a run away green house effect. They could be used to stop dangerous storms and stop droughts. They could be used to help the farming industry with rain and longer growing seasons.
This technology could also be used to help terraform Mars and Venus. It has a lot of potential.
But before we start messing with the Earth’s climate, we need to have a much better understanding of how our climate works. We have to know for a fact that if we make a change to the climate on one area of the Earth, we’ll know what that will do to other areas. The technology and knowledge to do this is out of our reach at the moment.
This is a two edge sword.
Are their low tech ways of causing harmful changes to the climate? Could “Weather Terrorist†set off several nukes in Antarctica, or the worlds rain forest, causing destructive climate changes?
