Oh, surely our govt would become more efficent if raised taxes and paid these bureaucracies more money. Or perhaps what we really need is millions of more rules and regulations on the books. Or how about a few more governmental panels to study the issue. Maybe the basic problem is only having around 40% of the workforce working for the govt, and should strive to achieve European standards of more than 50%.
Meanwhile we should continue the policy of "don't ask and don't tell" because we wouldn't want to discriminate against those people trying to achieve the American dream.
