Buy stock in firms that manufacture your favorite antacid -- you will get that much more satisfaction from consuming a bottle a week. Get regular exercise to help work off the stress. Set aside time to talk out loud to yourself in private every day, both to say repeatedly and with satisfying venom the things you wished you could have said in public, and to rehearse snappy comebacks so that they appear spontaneous, and will shut up the more easily cowed knuckleheads. This will also allow you to have reasonable conversations with reasonable opponents, as you have an arsenal to fall back on and can therefore afford to relax a little.

The pool of available candidates is self-selected. People choose to go into academics, as with any other career. If conservative students are choosing not to go into a field they wish to enter because they're afraid someone will call them names, but go instead into another field in which they get to hang out with people who think like them, their failure of nerve is at least partly their fault.

If conservatives are being fired for their politics, this is a problem that should be addressed by wrongful termination lawsuits with lots of reporters. Conservatives can get advice on how to document a case for this kind of behavior if they can stand to hang out with feminists long enough to get a few tips.

Conservatives are not in academia because they have decided to go somewhere else. Unless this changes, they have no grounds to kvetch.
