Teaching requires interpersonal talents as well as real knowledge. Those talents include patience and empathy.
Those who don't have those talents will frequently put themselves on the pedestal of "those who can". The question is, "Can what?"
Those who can't explain coherently can't teach. Those who can't get their brain around a topic in more than one way, in order to illustrate the same point for people who learn in a variety of different ways, can't teach.
Your swipe at teachers as women who went to college to get their "MRS" degree is lovely. The people you've really described are the Junior League. Women who get their MRS usually don't seek difficult jobs with long hours that expose them to the flu and every other virus that comes down the pike every year. They usually seek to decorate their homes with their husbands' money.
Every profession has its incompetants and its dilettantes. Teaching is no more dominated by these groups than any other profession.
