The MRS remark was the one that got me, because it implied that the poor teachers were all women. The MRS cannot be pertinent to any college professor I have ever met, or any college professor at all, because they need advanced degrees. It applies exclusively to women who go to college hoping to meet an eligible man, and whose studies are centered on a career path typically dominated by women.
After reviewing your clarifications, I will assume that you didn't really mean that the people you know who entered the teaching profession because they thought it was easy were all women, either.
