I've worked with the folks at Sandia. They are very good at what they do. Their bread-and-butter has been ballistic missile reentry vehicles. In terms of getting something from raw concept to actual flight hardware, they are probably the best on the planet (due to decades of successful practical experience). The fact that almost no one has a payload for the Super Strypi tells me something. I predict that you'll continue to hear lots of optimistic talk about SpaceX until Elon Musk runs out of money or loses interest. Then it will "pass into the night" like the many other private space development schemes before it.
